As celebrated for his unrivalled collection of precious gemstones, as he was for his innovative approach to cutting and setting stones, Mr. Winston developed the Winston Cluster in the early 1940s. Breathing fresh air into jewelry design, Mr. Winston and his designers pioneered the technique of clustering, in which individual stones, not the metal settings, would dictate the jewelry design. This revolutionary approach of placing diamonds at different angles and on different planes resulted in elegant, clean designs, which have become synonymous with the aesthetic of the House. Named after New York’s Fifth Avenue, the Avenue Collection appropriates its design cues directly from Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon. As the most recognized collection of all Harry Winston’s timepieces, the architecture of the Avenue Collection echoes the lines of the stately stone façade of the Fifth Avenue Salon and features a miniature replica of the famous arched doorway on the case at 12 and 6 o’clock.

18-karat?Other Harry Winston signature codes include the House’s official logo and the truncated diamond set into the crown. On the dial at 12 o’clock, the letters HW are placed in a gold octagonal applique, a shape inspired by Mr. Harry Winston’s favorite gemstone cut – the emerald-cut.
